CHAPTER 10

Blade watched as Orion shifted and flew to the top of the church and looked around. He wished the man would have waited. Blade would love to touch him, pet him… feel his feathers, and know if Orion was as soft and silky as he looked in his Aralezes form.

“Well come on, tough guy. This is a first for us, and I can’t wait,” Pulchra said excitedly.

Blade hesitated another moment, but knowing he needed to pull up his big-boy panties and just trust that his maharishi would keep him from plummeting to his death.

Just as Blade climbed on top of Pulchra’s back, he heard loud, thunderous steps as Kenza rushed towards them, “Can I come? Can I come? Please, let me come. I promise, I’ll be good, and no one will care if you don’t.”

Pulchra looked at the overexcited dragon, and huffed, “Kenza, don’t you have something better to do?”

Shaking his head so fast left to right the dragon lost his balance and stumbled a bit. “Oops. Evin always tells me not to do that.”

Blade laughed, “Come on, Kenza. You’re welcome to join us.”

Kenza’s eyes lit up. “Really? Oh wow, thanks, Blade! I’ll be good, I promise.”

“Let’s go. I can feel the impatience coming off our mate,” Pulchra said.

“Me too. Come on,” Blade said, holding onto his dragon’s mane as best he could.

People would think that Pulchra was hard and slippery, because he looked like a crystal dragon, but in truth, he was soft. It was no different than being mounted on a horse. Blade had no clue why, or how, it just was.

The moment Pulchra lifted into the air, Orion took flight from the top of the church.

Blade didn’t look down. He was too busy watching Orion gliding in the air, and then he heard, “Yea haw! Vroom! Vroom!”

Turning to the sound he watched as Kenaz flew high into the air, then turned and pointed down, tucked in his wings and dive-bombed towards the ground. Just as he would have hit a tree, he moved just a bit, and straightened, gracefully gliding over the tips of the trees before swooping back into the air.

Orion landed on a mountain top, and Pulchra landed next to him. Orion turned to them. “I can’t remember the last time I went for a flight without a reason.”

“You do have a reason. You’re strengthening your wings after being shot… remember?” Pulchra grumbled.

Orion nodded, “Yes, Pulchra, I remember. It’s kind of hard to forget. I meant that I wasn’t going off to save someone. It’s really… invigorating.”

“Yooo hoo!” Kenza cried out happily as he continued to fly, swoop and glide. He’d just leveled out, when he called out, “Hey, a cave.”

Pulchra and Orion both called out, “Kenza don’t go in there!”

However, Kenza wasn’t listening as he landed and trotted inside.

“Shit!” Pulchra snapped.

“What is it? What’s wrong?” Blade asked in confusion.

Kenza came running out of the cave his wings flapping in the wind as his little legs moved as fast as they could go.

“What the hell?” Blade asked as he watched a large black bear loping towards the crazy-ass dragon.
